When I was 11 years old my mother decided she wanted to start a company selling what would become the Mirrix Loom. At the time she was a stay-at-home mom and a tapestry weaver. She had no business experience or business degree. She was told that 70% of small businesses fail within the first 10 years and 20% within the first year. It was likely that she would become one of those statistics, especially in the male-dominated world of manufacturing.
She didn't, and in one week that little company will turn 23 years old.
