Late last year my daughter started taking horseback riding lessons. The first day, she didn’t say a word to the trainer. She communicated only in quiet nods as they brushed and tacked up a stunning white gelding named Decker. Soon, it was time to ride. She walked slowly up to the mounting block and was helped onto the horse’s back. Her face changed immediately. A smile spread. Her eyes went wide. This was magic.
