A few years ago I moved from an apartment into a house and was thrilled to finally have my own office/studio. For the first time in my life, I had a space that I could dedicate to weaving. And then the pandemic hit. My partner started working from home full time and suddenly my office was no longer just mine. My desk is once again multi-functional: A space for working and conference calls and weaving and sewing. Honestly, it's a bit of mess and I've gone back to doing much of weaving on the couch. I have a little basket with my materials and a cozy blanket to wrap myself in. My loom of choice for these occasions? The 12" Little Guy Loom. This is the biggest Mirrix loom that fits comfortably in my lap and it's PERFECT for weaving on the couch or in bed, but it's big enough to make a piece 9" wide and 26" long, or even multiple smaller pieces side-by-side.
I find myself recommending this loom quite often because, to me, the size really finds the balance between portability and versatility. You can throw it in a tote bag and take it to a friend's house. It fits quite easily in luggage. It weighs less than 5 lbs. It's available both with or without the shedding device.
If you're looking for a professional-quality loom that's small but might, I would absolutely consider our 12" Little Guy Loom.
