Weave-Along 39: The French Knots Tapestry

This tapestry is all about the materials. It combine wet spun linen with FARO wool and mulberry silk in a tapestry that celebrates neutrals and bright colors all at once. During Weave-Along 39, we will explore the art of weaving in opposite directions, slit tapestry, soumak and adding embroidered French Knots to a tapestry as you weave. The finishing is as unique as the design with a stepped edge and gorgeous linen fringe. Have fun playing in the subtle yarn playground of neutrals and pops of silken color with the French Knots Tapestry.

In this weave-along you will learn:
-How to set-up and warp a Classic Series Mirrix Loom for tapestry weaving
-Tapestry techniques: Weaving in opposite directions, slit tapestry, soumak, French knots
-How to finish a tapestry with stepped finishing and fringe

What is a weave-along?
A weave-along is an online course focusing on a specific project. Every Monday for the length of the weave-along participants will get an email with links to instructions for the week ahead that might include downloadable .PDFs, online written content and/or videos. This is not a live event, but does take place over a specific time frame so participants are all working on the same part of the project at generally the same time. Weave-along participants are encouraged to ask questions and engage with other members of the weave-along via email and social media sites including the Mirrix Facebook Page, Mirrix Facebook Group and Mirrix Ravelry Page

What do you need to begin:
-A 12" or 16" Classic Series Mirrix Loom with a shedding device (recommended, but you can also use one without) and a 10 dent warp coil. You can also use the 19", 22" 28", 32" or 38" Looms, but we recommend purchasing an extra bobbin of linen warp. An 8" Chloe Loom with ten dent combs and a 14.5" rod can also be used, though the fringe may be an inch or so shorter.)
-A good pair of scissors
-A measuring tape
-Heddles (60 are needed, these needed for use with shedding device only)
-A beater (or fork)
-The French Knots Tapestry Kit or Loom Starter Package

When does the weave-along take place?
