The Shasta Combs were developed with four goals in mind for Classic Series Mirrix Loom users: To offer a simple and easy warping option; to allow for shorter pieces to be woven without wasting warp; to create one layer of warp instead of two; to allow for four-selvedge warping.

These combs essentially turn a Mirrix Loom into a simple frame loom (read: very simple to use) but with the amazing Mirrix tensioning system and the ability to use the Mirrix shedding device. The combs are not meant to replace our current warping system, which offers the advantage of putting on a warp that is longer than the loom itself as well as a variety of warp setts, but to provide an additional warping method that is very fast and simple. The Shasta Combs can also allow one to weave a tapestry/fiber piece (of limited lengths) with no warp-ends to finish.

The Shasta Combs for the 12", 16", 19" and 22" looms are made of powder coated aluminum with slightly angled tines. The 5" and 8" Shasta Combs are made of aluminum that is not powder coated and without angled tines.

Shasta Combs have three sides so that they clamp right on to the top and bottom beams of the loom, making them easy to put on and take off without having to permanently change anything about the loom.

The combs provide a limited warp sett of 8 ends per inch (or 4 EPI if warped every other dent). However, if you use them with a top and bottom warp coil you can get whatever sett the warp coils are. This method of combining the combs with the warp coils allows you to use them with most bead sizes as well as different setts for tapestry/fiber weaving.

You can find Shasta Combs for our double beamed Classic Series Looms here.

Why Combs?
-Easy and fast warping
-Saves warp
-Creates one layer of warp instead of two
-Gives you the option of not having to finish your warp-ends (For tapestry/fiber weaving of limited lengths)

Who Might Want Combs?
-Tapestry/fiber weavers and bead weavers (Note: Bead weavers will want to use this accessory with a Bottom Spring Kit.)
-Beginning weavers who want the option of a simple method of warping
-Weavers who want to weave pieces without warp ends to finish (Notes:
*The size of pieces made with this method are limited by the size of your loom and the height each loom can be adjusted to, as the top and bottom of weavings made with this method will be at the top and bottom of your loom.
*You will not be able to use the no warps to finishing method with most bead sizes.
-Those looking for a fast, easy way to warp for samples or other quick pieces

How to Warp With Combs:
Warping consists of tying to a tooth on one comb and zig-zagging back and forth through the teeth. There are three slightly different methods of doing this depending on if you want warp ends or not or want to use springs in combination with the combs. (Note: For bead weaving, you will need to use the Bottom Spring Kit method unless weaving with large beads.)
