Claudia Chase, President and founder of Mirrix Looms has been dyeing yarn for many years. It started out of necessity: She needed THAT particular yellow or THAT specific blue. But then she fell in love with the process and, especially, the result. She has an incredible eye for color, a natural gift honed for many years, and her ability to translate that to yarn is incredible. She started hand-painting silk several years ago. It's a labor intensive process done in the kitchen of her home in big plastic bins. She tells her family: "It's a dyeing day" and they know to stay out of the way until skeins of silk are drying on racks on the porch. Then she ships the skeins to Mirrix's manufacturing facility where we wind them onto bobbins. These bobbins then show up at your door, the perfect oak leaf green, the variegated sunset pink.
