Take your approach to bead weaving to a new level. Employing discontinuous wefts as you do in tapestry weaving, this technique opens up the possibility of designing on the go. By not having to string up an entire row of beads all at once, you can weave smaller sections which can be easily joined together. We think this method is much more interesting to tackle and opens you up to making some fun spontaneous choices. Once you learn this method you will not want go back. It will change the way you design bead pieces. You will be able to switch things up as you weave which is not normally the case with bead weaving. Come join us on this journey.
This four by four inch project comprises fifteen of our favorite colors of Toho Treasure cylinder beads. The shapes are rectangles put together like a puzzle. We will provide the basic concept of the design and how to weave it but you get to change it up and place colors and shapes where you want. The goal of this weave-along is to become comfortable with this new technique.
In this weave-along you will learn:
-How to set-up and warp a Chloe Pocket Loom for bead weaving (We will also include links on how to set-up and warp a Classic Series Mirrix Loom, but will be demonstrating on a 5" Chloe Loom,)
-How to weave beads using the discontinuous weft method
-How to finish a beaded tapestry
What is a weave-along?
A weave-along is an online course focusing on a specific project. Every Monday for the length of the weave-along, participants will get an email with links to instructions for the week ahead that might include downloadable .PDFs, online written content and/or videos. This is not a live event, but does take place over a specific time frame so participants are all working on the same part of the project at generally the same time. Weave-along participants are encouraged to ask questions and engage with other members of the weave-along via email and social media sites including the Mirrix Facebook Page, Mirrix Facebook Group and Mirrix Ravelry Page.
What else you need to begin:
-A 5" or 8" Chloe Pocket Loom with a 16 dent comb or any Classic Series Mirrix Loom (except for the 5” Mini Mirrix) 16” or smaller with a 16 dent warp coil

-A tape measure
-A Weave-Along 38 "Art Deco Squares" A Discontinuous Weft Bead Weaving kit or loom starter package
