5 Twelve-Yard Bobbins of Hand-Painted Silk Gima Tape Yarn

We have fallen in love with this beautiful silk gima tape. It is also called straw silk. What is silk gima tape? You might ask. It looks like ribbon but it isn’t. In fact it’s a bunch of strands of silk somehow kept together in a flat yarn. It’s a little stiff but gets softer when you use it. Apparently, for wearables, it stiffens up again after it’s washed. It feels crisp, like linen, but takes dye like silk, which is to say beautifully. You can use it for weaving, embroidery, needlepoint, anything where a silk thread can be used.

The colors in this package of 5 are identical to the product photo. We have a limited supply of silk from this dye lot.
